Our Faculty Vanguards are Diving in!

JC and Trent at Canvas training in Casper, Wyoming
Vanguards Jonathan Carrier and Trent Morrell
engage in Canvas explorations in Casper.
This week the LCCC Faculty Vanguards are training in Canvas with their Wyoming colleagues. Pictured here are Jonathan Carrier and Trent Morrell from the School of Math & Sciences. They're joined in Casper by faculty members Cindy Henning, Janice Cheever, Teresa Authier, Crystal Stratton, Shannon Zavorka, Rob VanCleave, and Caitlin Mackenna. Brandon, Tim, and Kari from CET and Chad Marley from ITS round out this training team. Prior to scheduling face-to-face time with the Canvas trainer, this group earned more than 170 training badges via the live Canvas webinars.

LCCC is collaborating in Canvas at Casper with Central Wyoming College, Western Wyoming Community College, Eastern Wyoming College, Sheridan College, and several K-12 partners. The next task on the Vanguards' list is to shape the on-site training scheduled at LCCC on March 30.

  2. I am so excited about how Canvas can change the way we teach and learn! It has so many functionalities that will enable us to spend more time on the important aspects of collaborating and learning with our students, rather than managing our courses!

Speed grader especially will let you more effectively provide context rich feedback in a quick and efficient way and students see the feedback on their dashboards front and center whenever they log in to Canvas!

  5. We're training in Casper today on Rubrics and Assignment development in Canvas. There are so many features of these tools--peer review, rubric ranges, group assignments--that are both learner- and instructor-centered. It's as if that by implementing Canvas we've broadened our conversation about teaching and learning to include a massive team of collaborators!
