Consider mid-term course questionnaires to gather actionable feedback

Mid-term in all A16 classes is right around the corner. This half way point in the semester presents an excellent opportunity to survey students about various aspects of a class and to understand their evaluation of how the semester is progressing. Posting intentional questions at mid-term can also encourage students to self-assess their learning and to reflect on their progress towards developing the skills a course is designed to deliver. The timing of a mid-term survey often yields better feedback for all parties because there is an opportunity to act on the information gathered. Students can be encouraged to realign their habits with their academic goals and instructors generally value sincere suggestions for improvements to any course.
