Canvas Feature Changes Coming October 19!

Canvas has announced two enhancements that will be of interest to all faculty. The following will be visible in our Canvas instance on October 19:

  • New Course and User Analytics
This update to the previous Analytics Beta will provide analytics for course grades, weekly online activity, and individual student views. New Analytics will also include mobile page views, making this a more comprehensive look at user activity in any course.
  • Improved Rich Content Editor
This update will improve the content creation experience. The new editor expands to the full width of the browser, has grouped common icons on the toolbar, repositions the accessibility checker, HTML editor, and keyboard shortcuts to the bottom of the screen, and allows for drag and drop media additions. Faculty who have felt hampered by the current editor will be really excited about this change!
Users will also notice improved visibility in the global navigation bar. We're looking forward to these enhancements to the Canvas Experience.

  1. As of 10.18 Canvas announced a delay in the release of the improved Rich Content Editor. We hope to see this enhancement live for all Canvas users soon!
