Canvas Tool Updates!

The March 21, 2020 Canvas update brought forward a few commonly requested changes to existing tools: Syllabus and Gradebook.

On the Syllabus, a new check box will be added that allows hiding the Course Summary. The course summary is the view in which all assignments are listed by due date on the Canvas Syllabus page. This new checkbox will be located in the Edit screen of the Syllabus tool as shown in the screenshot below.

The Gradebook will see two new updates to existing uses. The first of these is an update to the plagiarism icons. The screenshot at left shows the old and new icons as they will appear in the gradebook and SpeedGrader.

The second of the two gradebook changes pertains to the sort order of exported grades. Until March 21, all gradebook exports were statically sorted by student ID. Moving forward, exported grades to a CSV will match the current sort order of the gradebook, preserving the preferences set by the instructor of a course.
