New Analytics Reports in Canvas -- What's Happening in YOUR Class?

Released in late September, Canvas now has a few useful reports available within the New Analytics tool. These reports are course specific and can be found by clicking either the “New Analytics” button on the homepage of your course or the “New Analytics” link in your course navigation, then clicking the “Reports” tab.

Canvas' New Analytics
The available reports are:

  1. Missing Assignments: a list of assignments that have not been submitted yet
  2. Late Assignments: a list of assignments that have been submitted late
  3. Excused Assignments: a list of assignments that are excused
  4. Class Roster: a list of students enrolled in the course or section with student contact information such as email and SIS ID
  5. Course Activity: a list of daily user views and participation

Report Filters
After clicking the “Run Report” button you then have the option to filter—depending on the chosen report—by Date, Assignment, Section Name (useful for cross-listed courses), and Student Name. Multiple filters can be applied to obtain specific information. A CSV file is immediately downloaded to your local machine, which can be opened and viewed in Excel.

Note:
These reports are subject to the New Analytics 24- to 40-hour data delay.
