Take a Look at Student Performance

Canvas developers have stepped up the game for student learning analytics. Faculty now have access to metrics that can inform instructional decisions at the course level and help shape interventions in support of student learning and student success. Consider these resources at any point in a semester:

  • Course Analytics is available from the course homepage and will reveal student activity, on-time submission rates, and current student grades.
  • Course Statistics is accessible via Settings and gives faculty a glimpse into which Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes are engaging students. Course Statistics also shows which students are not participating to the fullest or have started to fall behind the rest of the class.
  • Canvas’ newest learner analytics tool, Analytics BETA, lets faculty use an interactive graph to view student metrics such as on-time submissions per activity and average performance. Analytics BETA also supports comparisons of the course average with an individual assignment, course section, or student. Finally, this new tool lets faculty message students based on specific course criteria.

This guide offers a glimpse of the currently available visuals and provides links to Canvas guides to help you get started. CET will announce changes to these tools as they develop; insure YOU are informed by following our blog today!
